Authentic African Safaris in Botswana
Moremi Game Reserve has garnered a number of important distinctions in the past years as a world destination. It is the first reserve in Africa that was established by local residents. Concerned about the rapid depletion of wildlife in their ancestral lands – due to uncontrolled hunting and cattle encroachment – the Batawana people of Ngamiland, under the leadership of the deceased Chief Moremi III’s wife, Mrs. Moremi, took the bold initiative to proclaim Moremi a game reserve in 1963. This was even before Botswana had her name; let alone recognised as a sovereign country!! Botswana was back then known as Bechuanaland Protectorate and would only gain independence later in 1966 and manifest to what she is now.
Moremi is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta, and as such holds tremendous scientific, environmental and conservation importance.
The Chobe National Park is Botswana’s first and is thus the oldest National Park in Botswana with an unbelievably huge population of elephants estimated to exceed 10,000. The Chobe is Botswana's third largest park, after Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Kalahari-Gemsbok National Park, and is the most biologically diverse teaming with one of the greatest concentrations of game in all of Africa.
A sunset Boat Cruise- a ´Sun-downer´ (as it is known to us in Southern Africa) on the Chobe River is a one of a kind experience. One get to view wildlife at a vantage point from the comforts of a boat. Go on a search for animals that you have not been able to get in front your camera lens!
Explore Makgadikgadi Pans
This offers a great opportunity to explore this seemingly forsaken landscapes that yet continue to support life in many art and forms. The animals of the Pans have to be highly adaptive to survive and this offers a great opportunity to catch/witness before unseen or uncommon behaviours from individual animals or animals Species for example the Kalahari Lions. In contrast to Chobe and Okavango the Pans are of course dryer and feel somewhat desolate but they are beyond astonishing in their own right with spectacular wildlife sightings and sunsets that no man can paint in words.
Nxai Pan is also geographically an extension of the Makgadikgadi and is highly recommended by our team and we are definitely excited to take you there!
